Tropea onions au gratin are a truly exceptional side dish, perfect to accompany a nice grilled meat or fish or to be served with a cheese board.

Remove the outer layer of the onions by dividing them in half by their length.
In a bowl combine bread crumb, pecorino cheese, chopped parsley, oil and salt, then mix everything together.
Take an oven dish and grease it with a little oil. Place the lightly crushed onions inside and season with oil and salt.
Put in the oven at 180°C for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes of cooking, remove the onions and spread the previously prepared gratin over them.
Sprinkle with a drizzle of oil and put them back in the oven at 180°C for 30 minutes. Serve the onions au gratin hot. Enjoy your meal!
